Nappy free time!

Amelia seems to have really sensitive skin, (just like her mom, gotta love that red head complexion!) and so we have been having a LOT of nappy free time lately.  If anyone has any advice on how to cure bad nappy rash, and I mean bad as in bleeding, I would be so grateful to know any family remedies.  Anything at all.  This poor girl!  I feel so bad for her.  I only wish she was older so we could work on the potty training...

This is Amelia's favourite perch out in our back courtyard.

I love this photo.  It's not the best photo of her, but I love the coloring!
(I scored this teeter-totter from a yard sale down the street, I talked the lady down to seven bucks!!  I was so excited and she loves it!)

She is so gorgeous! You guys need to move back to the DC area so we can set Amelia and Seth up!

So, this might sound a little strange as a diaper rash remedy, but it helps. Buy some chucks pads, or puppy training pads, which are those things that are like giant paper towels with plastic on the back, and spread them on the floor. Then take all of Millie's clothes off and let her air out. The more time without the diaper, the better. Most diaper rash is just from being damp too long, so air is generally the best remedy. Many people swear by Boudreaux's Butt Paste--Brian used it in the military when there was way too much sweat and too many clothes for way too long. With the airing out and the Butt (I prefer to say Bum) paste, you should notice a difference. If not, then it could be something else like a yeast infection, in which case check with a Doc. Good luck.

Try Lucas Papaw Ointment. You find them either in a red tube or jar in the chemists or priceline and sometimes the supermarket

Nellie has had some fierce diaper rashes. Our reliables are garlic oil or/and bag balm. To make garlic oil: Crush 10 cloves of garlic and put in a glass jat (like a mason jar). Cover with 4oz Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and stir. Cover and set in sun for 3 days. Strain the oil. I just squirt the oil right on her bum. This is also a great oil for ear infections. The bag balm comes in a green tin. I don't know if they sell it there.

Hey Kim, it's Emma from church, sorry to be snooping on your blog but your facebook said you were blogging and I've always wondered what that is!! Anyway.... Nappy rash.... Lily is the same, super sensitive skin, bleeding nappy rash, we can't even put band aids on her, which is terrible since she's forever falling over, etc... I got a "show bag" from the chemist a few months ago and it had this new wiz bang nappy rash cream in it so used it as what did I have to lose and it actually works!! She still get patches now and again but nothing as bad as it used to be and I prefer it to using cortizone creams which is all the doctor could suggest! It's called Covital in a blue tube in the nappy rash cream isle of your local chemist!! :) It is a little stinky as it has fish oil in it (supposedly to promote healing) but hey, if it works I can handle Lily stinking like a fish!! :)
