ACS 50th (Day 4)

The fourth day began with two industry panels...the first of which was "The Collaborators", discussing the relationship of Director and Director of Photography (DoP), and what a line up it was!

(left to right - Don McApline, ACS, ASC; Bruce Beresford (Dir, Driving Miss Daisy); Peter James, ACS, ASC (DoP, 27 Dresses, Cheaper by the Dozen 2); George Miller (Dir, Justice League, Happy Feet, Babe 2, Mad Max trilogy); and Dean Semler, ACS, ASC (DoP, Get Smart, Apocalypto, Dances with Wolves)

After the panel I chatted with George Miller

The second panel was on the "Future of the Image", discussing where technology is taking motion picture storytelling.
(left to right - Daryn Okada, ASC, John Galt, Panavision, Andrew Lesnie, ACS, ASC, John Bowring, ACS)

Couldn't resist taking a minute to talk to the awesome, Andrew Lesnie, ACS, ASC (DoP, Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, I Am Legend)

Kim and I were generously invited to attend the ACS 50th Anniversary Gala Awards Banquet, courtesy of my employer, Lemac (they paid the $120 a head), wherein we got to walk the red carpet.

Posing with the ACS 50th Guest of Honour, Dean Semler, ACS, ASC (can't wait to see the new Get Smart film he just finished)

The firm I worked for last summer represented the "Get Smart" people in Moscow and jumped through all the legal hoops to get permission to shoot in Red Square, etc.

But I didn't get to help out. I was busy so they asked the other intern to do it. . . dang.
