ACS 50th (Day 4)

The fourth day began with two industry panels...the first of which was "The Collaborators", discussing the relationship of Director and Director of Photography (DoP), and what a line up it was!

(left to right - Don McApline, ACS, ASC; Bruce Beresford (Dir, Driving Miss Daisy); Peter James, ACS, ASC (DoP, 27 Dresses, Cheaper by the Dozen 2); George Miller (Dir, Justice League, Happy Feet, Babe 2, Mad Max trilogy); and Dean Semler, ACS, ASC (DoP, Get Smart, Apocalypto, Dances with Wolves)

After the panel I chatted with George Miller

The second panel was on the "Future of the Image", discussing where technology is taking motion picture storytelling.
(left to right - Daryn Okada, ASC, John Galt, Panavision, Andrew Lesnie, ACS, ASC, John Bowring, ACS)

Couldn't resist taking a minute to talk to the awesome, Andrew Lesnie, ACS, ASC (DoP, Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, I Am Legend)

Kim and I were generously invited to attend the ACS 50th Anniversary Gala Awards Banquet, courtesy of my employer, Lemac (they paid the $120 a head), wherein we got to walk the red carpet.

Posing with the ACS 50th Guest of Honour, Dean Semler, ACS, ASC (can't wait to see the new Get Smart film he just finished)

ACS 50th (Day 3)

You can't beat going to work and having this looming outside...

I lured Don McAlpine, ACS, ASC (DoP, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Clear and Present Danger, etc) to our booth to talk up the RED One and pick his brain.

John Bowring, owner of Lemac Films, discusses the "Ins & Outs of the RED One" in one of the master classes

I chatted away for quite some time with Daryn Okada, ASC, President of the American Society of Cinematographers (DoP, Mean Girls, Dr. Dolittle 2, etc). He flew out all this way to wish the ACS a happy 50th.

ACS 50th (Day2)

(unfortunately I didn't have a camera for day 1)

The Australian Cinematography Society celebrated its 50th Birthday at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay, from Wednesday to Saturday this week, comprising a mini trade show (in which we at Lemac exhibited), master classes, conferences, panels, and a gala awards dinner Saturday night.

Posing with one of our RED One 4k Digital Cinema Cameras (Lemac's proprietary red BROLGA box sitting up top)

Happy First Birthday, Amelia!

Amelia reading a book, waiting patiently to open all her pressies!

Isobel and Joseph (Smith) couldn't stand to be away from all the birthday action

"You mean, I can really eat this finally?!"

"I'd rather stick with the steamed broccoli"

"Maybe this is hair gel?"

Start unwrapping the pressies!

"Thanks everyone for all the wonderful presents!" - With Love, Amelia

Brad, the would-be journalist [UPDATED]

So, I was out and about downtown yesterday and thought I'd pass the under construction Sydney Apple Store to see its progress (Kim and I are die hard Mac geeks), and low and behold, they covered the glass facade with some new digs (until recently it was covered just in black). I snapped a bunch of pix, and blitzed all the Mac rumor sites, and, whaddya know, a bunch of them posted my amateur photos!

Moving Day [VIDEO]

Well, we finally moved from Wentworthville up to scenic Woy Woy today. We had quite a few people from Church come and help, which made it very fast (thank you!).

Of course, Amelia didn't want to be left out of the moving fun!

Amelia takes on the slide [VIDEO]

Amelia always wants to copy her friends, and here she goes attempting a take at the slide.

Book time!

Amelia's best friend, Isobel Smith, has gotten her hooked on reading. She'll pull a book off the shelf and devour it in no time...

Sometimes the books are better understood upside down...

Amelia's strange sleeping habits

For some odd reason, Amelia likes to stick her bum up in the air when she sleeps. We reckon in her dreams, she's a stink bug!

More photos of Amelia, Surprise! Surprise!

Beautiful baby, well not so much baby anymore.

On her favourite perch.

Our shameless attempt at going green!

I had to take a picture of this, she got stuck!  HAHAHA!  So funny!

At the beach...

Just down the road from our new home!  And no, to clarify for those of you out there, we are not buying a home only renting still.  Here in Australia EVERYTHING goes through the realestates.

So after a day of tour through properties, we took the kids to the beach to unwind before we got back in the car.

Amelia was digging the sand!

Even gave it a taste!

She ate quite a bit.  I think she wasn't quite sure what to think of it.

Isobel playing.

Joseph playing.

And the two of them.

Brad missed this one!

This one got left out the other day when Brad was updating, and it is my all time favourite of the carosel photos. So enjoy it!
