We were asked last month to play Joseph and Emma in a play for the Stake depicting the organization of the original Relief Society. We figure the only reason we were asked was because we have the accent...and Brad is tall. Kim was able to borrow a dress from one of Sharon's friends. Brad was able to borrow a waist coat (vest) and braces (suspenders) from Paul. He wowed the audience with his compelling loud voice, and Kim only forgot one line, (she had two). Sharon was asked to play Bathsheba Smith (Hyrum's wife), and little Isobel played "baby" Isobel (a dynamic role, but she pulled it off with grace and poise).
Afterwards we enjoyed real "pioneer" food. Someone happened to have one of Emma Smith's original recipes for Joseph's favourite cookies. Kim spent all day the day before over at Sharon's house baking. Unfortunately they didn't have all the good stuff that we have today so the cookies tasted a tad on the horrible side. We also enjoyed a raw red meat stew. Most went home hungry, but it was a fun evening nevertheless.
