"Fragments"

Well, we finished casting two weeks ago, and this week was school holidays, so we finally began production on my own 10 minute short for one of my classes, entitled: "Fragments." Kim and I wrote the script over the last few weeks, and it was good to see a large portion of it shot. It was pretty weird, though, to have the dialog delivered with an Aussie accent (when writing it, I would obviously read it in my head in an American accent). It was heaps hard to work around the different intonations and tones (and lingo) with the actors and get the same feeling (Aussie's emphasize different words, so some phrases sound strange to an American ear) I was going for in the script.

We started shooting some evening shots in the city across the bay from the Opera House, but the wind picked up and the temperature dropped heaps, so we had to postpone.

We got the b/w 16mm film (from the experimental shoot) back from the lab the other day, and I've gotta say, Luna Park captured in time-lapse at night looks pretty dang sweet! We'll have to telecine it (after we hand tint it, of course) and post it somewhere on the web for you all.

"For Sale"

Today, Kim and I went and helped out on a fellow student's (Dave Paterson) short, "For Sale". It's essentially about a dodgy real estate agent who sells street corners to homeless people. Kim was the onset photographer, hence the pix below.

'Buncha lunatics at Luna Park

"Every Sydney resident and visitor has their own fond memories of Luna Park - 1930's Amusement Park."

Brad shot his experimental time-lapse film at Luna Park for a couple hours, of which 2 minutes worth will be had (time-lapse takes forever!!!) We also caught a thief getting busted by the cops during the time-lapse...cool az, eh?

Kim seized the moment with her camera and took some bonzer long exposure shots of some of the rides - the Ranger being the coolest!

A view from The Rocks

"Traditionally the home of the Aboriginal Cadigal people, the rocky sandstone ledge known as The Rocks is where mariners of the First Fleet stepped ashore on 26 January 1788 and British settlement of Australia was first established.

Today it is Sydney’s historic old town quarter, nestled between the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House."
