Aquarium Part 1

Today we took Amelia down to the Sydney Aquarium.  It was so much fun to have a family outing.  Amelia did great and we had so much fun!  It's going to take me quite some time to sort through all the photos.  We took both cameras and have close to 300 photos.  So give me a day or two to sort through those.  In the mean time I thought I would share the before and after photos.

This is Amelia on the train.  She usually has a hard time on the train and doesn't really enjoy it, but today she wasn't too bad!  She dropped her pacifier on the floor and we couldn't find it anywhere under our seat, but lucky for us we were in a carriage full of Grandma's!  We had the whole carriage up looking for it.  The woman sitting behind us just happened to have it under her foot.  So funny!

Family portrait (kind of) on the train.  It's hard to sit still when you're so excited to see what's going on outside!

Amelia fell asleep as soon as we got off the train and started heading towards the aquarium, so we took a little detour to the new Apple store.  Brad has been so excited to show it to me.  And I must admit, I was very impressed.  This is the glass staircase inside.  It's very cool!

After the aquarium we (well, mostly just me) wanted to wander around the harbor where the aquarium is (Darling Harbor as it's called).  And I'm so glad we did because we discovered a beautiful Merry-go-round!  Best $3.50 ever spent!  Amelia loved it!

Diary of a restless sleeper continued...

So with all of Amelia's strange sleeping habits Brad and I just couldn't help but try and figure out just what was going on in her room over night, so we set up night vision!  Well, not exactly night vision, we just left the light on in her room one night and taped our camera to the side of her crib to see if we could capture and see just exactly what was going on.  (All inspired by Brad's time spent at National Geographic!)  Here is the footage we got.  This comprises almost 6 hours of footage.  We did it as a time lapse so it's much shorter and I edited out the long boring bits.  Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Diary of a restless sleeper

You start out as a beautiful sleeping baby...

You can sleep anywhere, anytime...

You dream of the day when you can break out of your cocoon...

And become a beautiful ballerina!

Practicing your pirouettes...

Your elegant bum-in-the-air sequences...

In a cage...

dreaming of being in the nutcracker!

Oh, I just can't wait to be a ballerina!

Can you spot the baby?
I had an awesome opportunity for a photo yesterday.  Amelia had fallen asleep in my arms and I was going to go and take her upstairs but then saw the basket of laundry that needed to go up and thought, "I bet I could do them both at the same time."  So I laid Amelia on top of the clothes in the basket on the couch...and then stood back to see if she'd wake up.  She didn't so I turned and ran for the camera and just as I got the camera turned on, she went to roll over and toppled out of the laundry basket onto the floor with all the clothes and the basket falling on top of her.  She was pretty shocked at such a rude awakening.  And I just couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh its time for some campaign'in!"

Ok, so we live down under and its taken quite some time for this wonderful little nugget of joy to finally cross our paths. Watch the end real close for a surprise. Enjoy!

Discovering dolls...

Aw yes, the joy of every little girls childhood: dolls!  Amelia has just discovered the joy of carrying a baby around with her thanks to Brad.  He is always encouraging her to go and find her baby.  It's very cute she just carries them around the house and then I find them in obscure places stuffed into corners or drawers.  Occasionally she will actually put them into her toy stroller and push them around.

Here you go baby, you can have a dummy just like me!

What's that you say?

Oh yes, of course I can fix your hair for you.

It's time to fly.  Don't worry, my mom does this to me all the time, you're gonna love it!

Just a little higher...

What?  Oh no way, I'm not going to body slam her.

Just bend her legs into her back.

Look baby, this froot loop is the same size as your nose,

And I can crunch it with my teeth!

Yeah, don't mess with me, I keep all my dolls in line!
